HGTV, also known as Home & Garden TV, is an American channel broadcasting shows related to home improvement and real estate. While there are a ton of selections to choose from, some of our favorite shows have disappeared over the years due to cancellation. These are the six best HGTV shows canceled over the years, and hopefully, we will see them on screen again soon.
6. Design on a Dime (31 Seasons)
While designing a house can be a lot of fun, the price deters many from actually doing so. On the show Design on a Dime, host Kristan Cunningham takes this struggle to heart and creates a challenge to transform a space using only $1,000. With several teams working together to make a modern and sleek space, it was a great motivator for those viewers who didn’t want to break the bank.

5. She’s Crafty (1 Season)
Who doesn’t like a show called She’s Crafty? This HGTV show headlined Wendy Russell as she dived into the world of real estate and renovations to create the best homes for her clients. Though the show only lasted for one season, the crafty Canadian was an entertaining host to watch on-screen. Russell continues to work in the real estate world after her show was canceled but we wish she was still on HGTV.
–IMDb score: 7.1
4. Room by Room (13 Seasons)
Among HGTV’s classics is Room by Room, starring handyman Matt Fox and designer Shari Hiller. Their combined knowledge helped homeowners transform their houses on a reasonable budget, room by room. Originally airing in 1994, the show was one of the longest-running decorating shows, going for 14 years before getting canceled. While there are plenty of other decorating shows on HGTV now, Hiller and Fox’s down-to-earth attitudes are something we want back on our screens.

3. Hidden Potential (9 Seasons)
Home makeovers are a staple of HGTV and one of the best was Jasmine Roth on Hidden Potential. Though Roth never intended to land a spot on television, she did well on the show, navigating how to make homeowner’s spaces work best for them. Though it only ran for three seasons and was canceled in 2019, it still feels like it’s been off the air for far too long.

2. Gardening by the Yard (14 Seasons)
In the earlier days of the network, HGTV had several gardening shows but this has since declined. One of the best gardening shows was Gardening by the Yard, airing between 1996 and 2009. The show featured guru Paul James, who tended to his organic garden while providing tips and tricks to new and seasoned gardeners. Low show ratings caused the show to get canceled, but James is grateful for his time on HGTV: we just wish it was longer.
–IMDb score: 8.8
1. Designing for the Sexes (6 Seasons)
While the concept may seem outdated now, Designing for the Sexes was a hit that ran from 1998 to 2010. The show headlined British interior designer Michael Payne as he tried to bridge the gap between warring couples. It would be exciting to see a new and updated version of this show, especially with Payne back at the helm ready to create the best of both worlds in home design.
