What is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel About?
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a period TV show that takes place during the 1950s in Manhattan, New York. Miriam, better known as “Midge,” is a mother of two and a wife to Joel. She was the epitome of traditional, female roles during that time until her husband’s failed attempts at comedy and low self-esteem lead him to break off their marriage. She comes to terms with her new future and uses her sharp, funny personality to get her through. She ends up doing comedy far better than her husband ever did, going against female stereotypes, and meeting interesting characters from all over the world.
Season One
The show starts off taking place in New York City in the 1950s. Miriam Maisel is a full-time housewife and stay-at-home mom. After a collapse in her marriage, she goes to a comedy club and gets on stage. She ends up getting more laughs than anyone expected and she realizes she might have a gift for performing comedy.
Season Two
In season two, you follow Midge as she begins climbing the ladder of fame. She keeps her new career a secret from everyone she is close to because she struggles to find where she fits in. Stand-up comedy is a competitive industry that isn’t entirely welcoming to women.
Season Three
Season three starts on a high note when Miriam is touring and succeeding as a stand-up comic. She struggles with balancing stardom, raising a family, and handling a divorce; it leaves her to carelessly risk everything she has worked hard to build for herself.

In this fourth season, Miriam is left to pick up the pieces of the mistakes she made in season three.
