3. Ripley (2024)
The best of Dakota Fanning on Netflix can be seen through the most recent mini-series available on Netflix called Ripley. The neo-noir psychological thriller is based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and stars Andrew Scott with Fanning and Johnny Flynn.
The story itself is set in the 1950s in New York when Tom Ripley, a down-at-the-heels con man, is hired by a wealthy man to convince his prodigal son to return home from Italy. But Tom’s introduction to Dickie Greenleaf’s comfortable and leisurely life abroad turns out to be the first step into a life of deceit, murder, and fraud.
2. Oats Studios (2017-2020)
Oats Studios is an interesting mini-series available on Netflix right now, and it also shows the best of Dakota Fanning, even though she only appeared in one episode. Oats Studios is not actually the name of the show, but the studio itself, which is an indie film studio that was started in 2017 by Oscar-nominated South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp.
The goal of the studio was to create and distribute experimental short films via YouTube and Steam to gauge viewer interest and find feedback in hopes of creating featured films. Over the two-year span that it’s been running, the series only has ten episodes, with major names playing the various shows like Sigourney Weaver, Carly Pope, Jason Cope, Michael Rogers, and of course Fanning.
Her role was in the very first episode, Rakka, which follows the story of ruthless reptilian aliens that have invaded Earth and enslaved humanity through brute force and telepathy. The survivors, led by a woman named Jasper, played by Weaver, are fighting a losing battle, but are able to turn the tide with the help of an angelic, messianic species and a mute precognitive.

1. The Equalizer 3 (2023)
The Equalizer is the most recent installment in the series and was released in 2023. The vigilante action-thriller film is also the final of the series, closing out the movie with a bang. The series is based on the television show sharing the same name, and stars Denzel Washington, with this installment also including Fanning as Emma Collins.
Washington reprises his role as a retired U.S. Marine and DIA officer, Robert McCall. In the film, McCall discovers that his new friends in a small town in South Italy are intimidated by Camorra members, so he sets out to save them from the threat. Fanning’s role in the film is a CIA officer who McCall anonymously calls to tip her off about an illegal drug trade that is disguised as a normal business. While not the major lead, she plays a great supporting role and does a wonderful job, making it the best of Dakota Fanning’s work currently available on Netflix.
