Season 1 Recap
A lot happened in season one for our characters, but the biggest surprises were left for the season finale. While trapped in a storage container, Agent Rossi comes to terms with his grief for his dead wife as she appears to him as a mirage and gives him the energy to break out.
Penelope learns Tyler has gone after Voit and gets shot in the process; when Penelope finds him in the woods she breaks off their relationship, needing space from her informant. Another relationship that is destroyed is Tara and Rebecca’s, which had been skating on thin ice for the last couple of episodes.
Even with Deputy Director Bailey dead, Prentiss is still under fire from upper management, keeping the BAU at risk of getting shut down. The biggest cliffhanger though was at the very end, as the BAU tries to figure out the secret of Gold Star and Voit is led into an interrogation room, where a mysterious man waits for him.

Will Matthew Gray Gubler Appear in Season 2?
Many fans have been hoping ever since Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 premiered that our favorite genius Reid would return to the stage. While season 2 is another chance to see Gubler reprise his role, it seems as if we will have to wait until season 3 or later for that to happen. Between scheduling and other conflicts, Gubler has not been cast in his familiar role, but both Gubler and the producers are willing to have it happen.
Even though Gubler is not reprising his role, there is a new face that should bring back a lot of memories for die-hard Criminal Minds fans. Felicity Huffman will be guest-starring as the late Jason Gideon’s ex-wife, Dr. Jill Gideon, to help the BAU uncover the Gold Star mystery. While Dr. Gideon may have some negative emotions towards the BAU, it seems as if her role may be extremely helpful in uncovering the conspiracy surrounding Gold Star, and why so many people are getting killed for it.
Criminal Minds Evolution Season 2 Synopsis
Season 2 will pick up two weeks after the events of the season 1 finale, with Prentiss struggling with the death of FBI Deputy Director Doug Bailey “quite a bit.” The BAU will continue to investigate the Gold Star mystery, but everything is going to get a lot more tense. Season 1 UnSub Elias Voit will strike a deal to put him into federal custody and close to his captors, making a major mystery even more intense with consequences no one will expect.
Tanya Giles, chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming shared this statement about season 2: “We’re thrilled to bring even more twisted storylines to our loyal fans of Criminal Minds: Evolution with the order of another season…There are still many dark twists and turns yet to come for the BAU this season and we can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store.”
