NBC has been a staple in television for many years. In keeping with the times, its new streaming service, Peacock, has a release date of April 2020.
The name is based on NBC’s iconic logo. On Peacock’s official website, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon is on hand for a brief introduction. However, he’s just imploring people to sign up by providing their email address for updates.

NBC classics, vintage films, plus new original content
While plans are in place for original programming at Peacock, what’s key about its initial catalog is the massive TV hits it’ll bring in.
NBC has housed legendary, long-running shows such as The Office and Parks and Recreation. Both those will transfer to Peacock within the next couple of years.
As was announced in September, The Office will arrive on Peacock in January 2021. Parks and Rec fans can rejoice when the show lands on its new platform in October 2020.
With regard to the aforementioned original programming, Peacock has some exciting projects on the horizon. Not least among them is Brave New World, an adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s visionary work of science fiction.
Office star Ed Helms is also co-creating an original comedy series titled Rutherford Falls. Focus Features will supply lots of movies to Peacock, as will Universal Studios, with E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial among the iconic movies to stream.
Peacock is going to enter a streaming market of stiff competition. Disney+‘s launch on November 12 will be a formidable competitor alongside titans Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
HBO Max will launch in March 2020 and put all of WarnerMedia’s streaming content under one umbrella. That’ll make Peacock’s debut more of an uphill climb, yet there’s plenty of upside for NBC to be encouraged.
