Netflix has picked up Imagine Entertainment’s docuseries exploring the most haunted locations around the United States.
Directed by Joe Berlinger, it’s described in Variety as a gritty, meticulous study of each location. Consider our interest piqued.
Berlinger was at the helm for Conversations With A Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, the acclaimed Netflix docuseries, along with the original film based around Bundy, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Most haunted and most popular
Some of the most popular content online is based on the paranormal and supernatural. Shows like American Horror Story and The Haunting of Hill House have big followings and this docuseries could appeal to that mainstream audience.
Every horror story needs an equally spooky location. Without it, the show or movie is unlikely to be scary. The truth is, the location is a key component in every mega-popular horror story and if done right, this docuseries could be very scary. Which, when combined with a mainstream audience, is a recipe for word-of-mouth and big success.
The only way Netflix could mess this up is with terrible production decisions. Fortunately, it’s not only the director who is talented. While it helps Netflix has a piro relationship with Berlinger, the streamer also has a fantastic production company backing the project in Imagine Entertainment.

Who is Imagine Entertainment?
Brian Grazer and Ron Howard run Imagine Entertainment. Established in 1986, they’ve worked with Universal, 20th Century Fox, and Lucasfilm. The company still makes plenty of movies, and is at work with Netflix on Hillbilly Elegy.
Our hope is that this show explores locations other than haunted houses. For instance, they could investigate Bobby Mackey’s Music World, a nightclub in Wilder, Kentucky, that allegedly has a portal to Hell in its basement. Having locations that cover the paranormal or supernatural, along with murder sites and disaster zones, could make each episode a new deep dive.
This is a show we’re already excited for. However, no release date is set yet. In light of the recent news, it’s only a matter of time. Come on Netflix, stream this most haunted docuseries already!
