20. Royal Pains (71%)
Royal Pains ran between 2009 and 2016 and followed Hank Lawson, a doctor for hire in the Hamptons. It progressed from an emergency room mishap to treating the rich and famous.
19. Covert Affairs (75%)
Canceled in 2015 after five seasons, Covert Affairs focused on a young CIA trainee that joins the Domestic Protection Division. The show charts her journey across different cover stories, evolving from coffee fetcher to a hardcore CIA agent.
18. Will & Grace (80%)
Will & Grace is groundbreaking as one of the most successful TV shows with a gay lead character ever. It ran for a total of eight seasons and got recalled to NBC in 2017, having been off the air since 2006. Set in New York and focused on the lives of best friends, Will, a lawyer, and Grace, an interior designer.
17. The Office (86%)
The US version of Ricky Gervais’s BBC show of the same name has been a blockbuster for NBC. It was adapted by Saturday Night Live writer Greg Daniels, who also wrote for The Simpsons. The show is Netflix’s most viewed — even above Friends — and will be exclusive to NBC’s Peacock streaming service from January 2021.
16. Superstore (87%)
Show creator Andy Spitzer was a writer and producer on The Office, and Superstore shares a similar vibe. It follows a group of employees working in a Missouri store and their day-to-day encounters. The show premiered its fifth season in September 2019 and is still going strong.
15. Cheers (89%)
Cheers ran for 11 years and its 275 episodes would take more than 137 hours to binge! It’s set in a Boston bar called Cheers and stars Kirstie Alley, Ted Danson, Kelsey Grammar, and Woody Harrelson. The show also has one of the most memorable theme songs ever, “Where Everybody Knows Your Name.”
14. Bates Motel (91%)
A prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film Psycho, the show is a psychological horror that aired between 2013 and 2017. Running for a total of five seasons, it covered the twisted teenage years of Norman Bates. And yes, it dealt with his complicated relationship with his mother.
13. Parks and Recreation (91%)
This sensational comedy was created by Greg Daniels (The Office) and Michael Schur (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Parks and Recreation is a political satire starring Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, and Chris Pratt. The show ran for 125 episodes across seven seasons and will be exclusive to NBC Peacock in October 2020.
12. Psych (92%)
Psych is a detective comedy where a super-smart consultant solves cases with pretend psychic powers. The show ran for eight seasons, ending March 2014. Since then, it has spawned two TV movies. The first premiered in 2017 and the second will bow in 2020. Fans of the show have nicknamed themselves “PsychOs.”
11. Everybody Loves Raymond (93%)
Created by Philip Rosenthal and co-written by Ray Romano (Parenthood and Vinyl). It’s centered on a sportswriter’s hilarious, dysfunctional family: an overlooked brother, a dim-witted father, and an overprotective mother. Everybody Loves Raymond started in 1996 and ran for 210 episodes across nine seasons.
10. Frasier (93%)
Created as a spin-off to Cheers, Frasier won 37 Emmy Awards during its 11 seasons. The show’s based around Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), a radio advice host reconnecting with his father and brother after moving back to Seattle from Boston.
9. Friday Night Lights (93%)
Set around a fictional high school football team, the show attempted to tackle issues occurring in America. Due to poor ratings, NBC made a deal with DirecTV, and the show managed to run for five seasons, ending in 2011. The show received lots of critical success, including Primetime Emmy Awards.
8. The King of Queens (94%)
The King of Queens is all about a working-class couple whose lives are turned upside down when the father of the bride comes to live with them. Despite starring Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) and Leah Remini (Kevin Can Wait), it’s Jerry Stiller (Zoolander) who steals the show. The show ran for nine seasons from 1998 to 2007.
7. Monk (94%)
Monk stars Tony Shalhoub (Nurse Jacky, The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel). He’s a brilliant detective with a very bad case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Between 2009 and 2012, Monk’s finale held the record as most-watched scripted drama episode in cable TV history with 9.4 million viewers. The show ran for eight seasons, winning eight Emmy Awards, and one Golden Globe.
6. 30 Rock (94%)
Created by Tina Fey (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). 30 Rock takes place behind the scenes of a fictional comedy show called “The Girlie Show.” It’s focused on the chaos as Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) tries to work under new vice president Jack Donaghy (Alex Baldwin) and control unstable star Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan). The show won 11 Primetime Emmy Awards during its seven seasons.
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (94%)
The show follows talented detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his cohorts at Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct. Rounding out the core cast are Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) and Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti). Andy Samberg won a Golden Globe Award in 2014, as did the show for best comedy or musical.
4. Parenthood (95%)
Parenthood follows the lives of families connected by a single family tree. It’s loosely based on the 1989 movie of the same name, made by Ron Howard, who actually wrote 27 episodes of the series himself. This Jason Katims-created show ran for six seasons, ending January 2015.
3. Downton Abbey (95%)
A British period drama about the lives of aristocrats and their servants in the 20th century. Downton Abbey has won numerous awards including a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Awards. The show ran for six seasons and ended in 2015. A movie was released in 2019 continuing the story. A strong argument could be made this is in fact the best TV show on Peacock.
2. House (96%)
In my opinion, though, House is the best TV show on Peacock! The show follows Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), a painkiller-addicted genius capable of diagnosing the impossible. The only joy he gets is tormenting the people around him. House is funny, intelligent and massively popular. It won Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards during its eight seasons.
1. Married…with Children (100%)
The best TV show Peacock has, according to Rotten Tomatoes is Married…with Children. The show ran from 1987 to 1997, following the story of Al Bundy and his family. Al, played by Ed O’Neil (Modern Family) hates his job, so he continuously comes up with schemes which ultimately fail. The show ran for 259 episodes over 11 seasons, with countless remakes in multiple countries, including Germany, Brazil, and Armenia. There were also multiple spin-offs, one of which was called Top of the Heap and starred Matt LeBlanc (Friends).
