Before we dive into the second season, let’s first do a quick recap of the first. Fans are sent to South Korea where Seong Gi-hun, a divorced father and indebted gambling addict who lives with his elderly mother, is invited to play a series of children’s games for a chance at a large cash prize.

Accepting the offer, he is taken to an unknown location where he finds himself among 455 other players who are all in deep financial trouble as well. The players must wear tracksuits and are under watch the entire time by masked guards wearing pink jumpsuits.

The players soon find that losing a game results in their death, and each death contributes to 100 million Won, which accumulates to roughly 45.6 billion won as the grand prize.

To survive, players must ally with one another, and Gi-hun finds his childhood friend, Cho Sang-woo, and North Korean defector, Kang Sae-byeok, as his allies. The game involves physical and psychological twists and turns, creating a tense, terrifying, and dramatic environment.

Squid Game Season 2 Summary

As far as we know, the second season will focus on Gi-hun, who vows revenge at the end of the first season and ends up returning and joining the game again to take revenge on the Front Man, who controls all aspects of the games, and end the games for good.

The trailer shows a darker side to Gi-hun when he negotiates with the Front Man to return. And while the end of season one showed Gi-hun wanting to take revenge, it’s clear that several other players have tried before him. But now that the Front Man knows his intentions, will it make these games scarier? The trailer highlights some of the classic childhood games, like Red Light, Green Light, where contestants are killed on the spot if they are not able to stay still when the light is red.

The twists and turns, and the new confidence and determination we’ll see in the main character, is going to make for a great second season, to say the least.
