Starring Daniel Radcliffe in an astonishing role as a dead body, Swiss Army Man follows a hopeless man who is stranded on a deserted island. When a dead body washes to shore, the man befriends the body, and together, they go on a surreal journey to get home.

A recent weird film is this 2019 American surrealist satirical film. The film follows suburban soccer moms who find themselves constantly against each other in their personal lives as their kids settle their differences on the field.

One of the weirdest movies of all time is a 1973 Mexican surreal movie, The Holy Mountain. The film follows a man who represents the tarot card, The Fool, in a corrupt, greed-fueled world. For those who enjoy learning about serial killers and true crime, this is a weird movie for you. The New York Ripper is a 1982 Italian film that follows a police lieutenant who is tracking a sadistic killer who slashes women with a switchblade and straight razors, all because his daughter is in the hospital and will never grow up to be beautiful.

Black Moon is a 1975 experimental fantasy horror where a character, Lily, attempts to seek refuge amidst an apparent gender-based civil war in which men and women are systemically killing one another. When she flees to a remote farmhouse and becomes part of an extensive family’s unusual, supernatural, lifestyle. By far it’s one of the weirdest movies of all time.

3. Gozu, 2003 (Amazon)
Gozu is a 2003 Japanese horror comedy crime film that follows Ozaki, a mentally unstable yakuza. Ozaki is seen as a security threat to the yakuza and is ordered to be killed. When his colleague, Minami, assassinates him, he obliges and takes Ozaki on a car ride someplace to do the job. However, Ozaki ends up disappearing en route, and the journey after is terrifying and crazy.

2. Sweet Movie, 1974 (Amazon)
This 1974 surrealist comedy-drama, Sweet Movie, is by far one of the weirdest movies of all time. The film follows Miss Canada after winning the “most virgin” contest. Her prize for winning is the marriage of a milk industry tycoon. However, she quickly decides to leave that life behind to experience the world around her, which mostly revolves around sexual liberation. The story also has a subplot that follows Anna Planeta who picks up a hitchhiking sailor, Potemkin. She warns the man that if she falls in love with him, she’ll kill him. He ignores that warning, but ultimately falls into that exact fate.
1. Dogtooth, 2009 (Prime Video)
Our number one spot for the weirdest movies of all time goes to Dogtooth, a 2009 Greek psychological drama. The story follows a couple who live in a fenced-in compound with their adult son and two adult daughters. The parents have kept the children ignorant of the world outside the property, and are pretty abusive when it comes to discipline. The parents go to crazy lengths to keep their lies about the outside world being dangerous.
