If you enjoy science fiction or robots, you have probably watched at least one of the Transformers movies. An alien race that comes to Earth, the Transformers have two forms: humanoid robots and cars. For nearly two decades, viewers have enjoyed the Transformers as they battle corrupt humans, evil Decepticons, and otherworldly beings. We have taken all of the Transformers movies and ranked them from worst to best.
7. Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
Ranking seventh in the Transformers film franchise is Transformers: The Last Knight. Not only did this film receive bad reviews, it was kind of a letdown for fans. The plot line was confusing, and although some of the actors are well-known, it couldn’t pull this one out of the gutter.
In The Last Knight, Optimus Prime has left Earth in search of his dead home planet, Cybertron, which he finds. As he encounters his creator, he learns that he is responsible for his planet’s destruction but can bring Cybertron back to life with an artifact from Earth. As a deadly threat from Earth’s history descends on the Earth alongside Optimus Prime to find the artifact, it will be up to Cade and the Autobots to keep Earth safe.

6. Bumblebee (2018)
Bumblebee is our sixth selection for Transformers movies, transporting back to the ’80s and Bee’s origin story. This one has memorable characters, lots of action, and a backstory on one of the most beloved characters in the franchise.
It’s 1987, and Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a California beach town, running from the war between Autobots and Decepticons. Charlie is 18 years old, trying to find her place in the world, when she stumbles upon Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives the Autobot, she quickly learns it is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen and enemies are searching for him.

5. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
The newest film in the franchise (other than Transformers One coming out in 2024), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, was able to bring new life into the Transformers movies and show that this franchise is far from over. Though the characters may not be as memorable as Sam Whitwicky, Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback do a great job of portraying Noah and Elena, respectively.
Rise of the Beasts takes viewers back to the 90s, where we meet a new faction of Transformers called the Maximals, who join the Autobots in an alliance to protect Earth. The Maximals came to Earth centuries prior, protecting a valuable piece of technology that can bridge universes. When a sinister force from outer space figures out where the tech is located, it will be up to Noah, Elena, the Maximals, and the Autobots to protect and save the Earth.

4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
Taking the third spot for Transformers movies is Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third installment in the franchise. Between the space travel across Earth and the Moon, the return of Sam, and an alien spacecraft hidden on the Moon, there is much to enjoy in this action-packed film.
The Autobots are back to take on the evil Decepticons, this time trying to get to a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon. The Decepticons are eager to avenge their recent defeat that happened in Revenge of the Fallen, but the Autobots are ready. Sam Witwicky is called to aid his robot friends, facing the newest villain Shockwave, and his henchmen who are ready to tear Earth apart.

3. Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
Jumping into the third spot for Transformers movies is Age of Extinction. While some fans do not love the change in characters, there is something really fun about Cade Yeager and his daughter Tessa as they stumble upon a Transformer. This movie spreads across the world, has funny moments, and shows the danger of Transformer technology in human hands.
After the battle between Autobots and Decepticons that leveled Chicago, humanity believes that all alien robots are a threat, no matter what side they fight on. As a CIA unit hunts for all robots, they are aided by an alien robot who’s searching for Optimus Prime. When Cade Yeager buys an old truck, he realizes that not only is it a Transformer, it is a beaten-up Optimus Prime. As Yeager fixes Prime, he is drawn into a world where it’s robots against humans, with an evil threat lurking in the background.

2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Out of all the Transformers movies, Revenge of the Fallen is one of my favorites. In the second film in the franchise, viewers learn more about the history of Transformers on Earth and the mysterious Fallen, who have hidden away a powerful relic. It has the perfect blend of humor, action, and heartfelt moments that speak to the whole theme of Transformers movies.
Sam Witwicky is ready to leave the world of the Autobots behind for a normal life, starting college and leaving Bumblebee at home. However, when Decepticons make trouble in Shanghai, and Sam starts seeing weird symbols after touching the Allspark, he is dragged right back into the fight between Autobots and Decepticons. The Decepticons are searching for a fragile relic that will give them enough power to blow out the Sun, and Sam must find it first to save not only his friends but the world, too.

Of course, the number one spot has to go to the film that started the Transformers movie franchise, Transformers. An ancient battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons descends onto Earth’s soil, with the key to the ultimate power held by a teenager. Sam Witwicky buys his first car, unknowing that the car is the Autobot Bumblebee. When the Transformer protects Sam and his girlfriend from the Decepticon Barricade, they are swept into the world of the top-secret agency Sector 7 to stop the Decepticons and find the Allspark.
