Woman of the Hour marks Kendrick’s directorial debut and is a 2023 crime thriller movie based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala and his 1978 appearance on the television show The Dating Game amidst his murder spree. The show also stars Kendrick in the film as contestant Sheryl Bradshaw.

Kendrick goes on several interviews about her work with the film and her passion for the story, like in Esquire UK where she talks about the societal standards on women who have to shrink themselves to survive the day.

Another interview mentioned that she felt weird about making a profit from the movie, and instead donated it to organizations that would benefit, such as anti-sexual violence charities.
