While we all want our favorite shows to do well and get renewed for another season, sometimes this isn’t the case. Whether it’s due to low viewership, contract issues, or other reasons, shows get dropped from production companies all the time. These are the ten most recent Disney shows canceled between 2023 and 2024.

Big Shot (canceled February 2023)
Big Shot starred John Stamos as Marvyn Korn, an ex-NCAA men’s basketball coach that has landed a job coaching girl’s basketball at an elite private school. The show ran for two seasons, but in February 2023 Big Shot was canceled. The series was also removed from Disney+ due to a cutting costs initiative under Disney CEO Bob Iger.
The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (canceled February 2023)
Similar to Big Shot, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers was also canceled after two seasons in February 2023. The TV show was a follow-up to the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks, where the Mighty Ducks evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive youth team. When Evan is cut from the team, he and his mom build their own team of misfits to rediscover playing for the love of the game. You can still stream the show on Disney+.
Willow (canceled March 2023)
Willow was a continuation of the films released decades prior, but met a swift end not long after its November 2022 release. Only a few months after the last episode aired in the first season Disney canceled the show, and in May 2023 Disney+ removed the series from their streaming service. While series creator Jon Kasdan claimed the show’s status was more of a pause than a cancelation, there have been no further mentions of reviving the series.

National Treasure: Edge of History (canceled April 2023)
While most adventure movie enthusiasts enjoyed the National Treasure film series, not as many enjoyed the TV show spin-off National Treasure: Edge of History. It did reach ninth place on Nielsen’s streaming rankings, (one of the few that are not related to Marvel or Star Wars) so there were fans that enjoyed the show. After just one season Disney+ canceled the show, more than two months after the series wrapped in February 2023. This series focused on the Pan-American treasure, and can still be streamed on Disney+.
Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (canceled August 2023)
Though at some points cheesy, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. was a fun spin-off of the popular TV show Doogie Howser, M.D. The series lasted two seasons on Disney+ before being canceled five months after season two premiered. The show follows 16-year-old Lehela “Doogie” Kameāloha as she tries to juggle a medical career and life as a teenager in Hawai’i.
The Spiderwick Chronicles (canceled August 2023)
One of the most interesting Disney shows canceled on our list is The Spiderwick Chronicles, which was canceled before the series aired. Disney decided to pull the plug in August 2023 even after all the filming had been completed, and the show looked like it would never reach our screens. Surprisingly, The Roku Channel picked up the pieces and premiered the show in April 2024 which is where you can stream the series today.

Muppet Mayhem (canceled November 2023)
While the Muppets may be a huge hit to many viewers, it did not protect their show Muppet Mayhem from landing on the cancelation block. Disney+ decided to end the series after one season in November 2023, after debuting ten live-action episodes following the Electric Mayhem Band as they recorded their first studio album.
American Born Chinese (canceled January 2024)
Sometimes a star-studded cast and relatively high ratings cannot save you either. American Born Chinese learned this the hard way in January 2024 when the series was canceled after one season. The main culprit? The show’s viewership did not justify green-lighting another season, which starred familiar faces like Michelle Yeoh, Ben Wang, and Ke Huy Quan.
Secrets of Sulphur Springs (canceled January 2024)
January 2024 included a bunch of cancelations, even to shows with more than one season. Secrets of Sulphur Springs, a time-travel mystery show was one of these, canceled after three seasons. The cancelation came only a few weeks after Jessie‘s spinoff Bunk’d was ending with its seventh season.
The Good Doctor (canceled January 2024)
Though you may not immediately think of The Good Doctor being associated with Disney, they are one of the producers and you can stream the show on the new “Hulu on Disney+” feature on their platform. Even with consistently high ratings, January 2024 announced that the show’s seventh season would be its last. ABC Network did not provide a specific reason for the cancelation, only that it was “time to say goodbye.”

Even though TV shows get canceled all the time, it still hurts when our favorite series hits the chopping block. We will have to wait and see if any more shows get canceled on the Disney franchise this year.
