Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell isn’t afraid to show the love to fans who supported him amid a breakout rookie season, as he made the rounds to meet some of them in person on the Fourth of July.
Mitchell’s initial inquiry as to where he should spend Independence Day came from a Twitter post:
Where’s the BBQ’s at Salt Lake??? Might just pull up 👀👀👀👀 HAPPY 4th 🙏🏾🇺🇸

One fan responded, and eventually had Mitchell show up to a pool party where he shot some hoops:
This is my cousin with the Spida in Utah! Donovan Mitchell is true to his word! 🏀🕷❤️❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/eqTuPwBwCd

“DM” must have slid into some DMs to make this happen, but not in an unbecoming way or anything. This is tremendous for the brand—and in general.
Good to see Mitchell getting buckets during the offseason, too, and on a national holiday at that.
A runner-up for Rookie of the Year honors, Mitchell averaged 20.5 points per game in his first NBA season, helping the Jazz to the conference semifinals. The 21-year-old figures to only improve and ascend even further among the league’s best guards in the years to come.
In the hearts of fans in the Salt Lake City area, there’s no doubt Mitchell is the true ROY over Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons. Mitchell’s pool party cameo only helps the cause.
